How to Ship Your Flowers to Always in Bloom (If You're Not in Sydney)

If you're not local to Sydney, you can still have your flowers pressed with Always in Bloom. You just need to ship them. The process is straightforward, but a little bit of preparation before your event makes the difference between flowers arriving fresh and flowers arriving stressed.

Step 1: Prepping your bouquet

Before shipping, the stems of the bouquet needs to be wrapped in a damp paper towel, then secured in place with a plastic bag and rubber band.

Take a look at our Bouquet Care and Transport guide for more detailed instructions.

Step 2: Find a box the right size

You want a box that fits your bouquet snugly. Too big and the flowers will shift around in transit, too small and you'll crush the blooms trying to close the lid. Ideally the bouquet should have 1-2 inches of space on the top and side of the bouquet. You can cut the stems shorter if you need some more space (but not too short, long stems look great in the art).

Step 3: Line the bottom of the box

Lay a scrunched up sheet of packing paper across the base and up the sides of the box. Once you place your flowers in, you can crumple the paper around the edges to secure it in place.

Step 4: Fill the gaps

Pack scrunched packing paper around the sides of the bouquet so it can't shift during transit. Be gentle - you're stabilising, not squeezing. Also wrap some paper around the stems, this will help keep the bouquet in place.

Step 5: Cushion the top

Add a final layer of scrunched packing paper over the top of the blooms and gently tuck the sides in. This protects the petals from the lid of the box without pressing down on them.

Step 6: Seal and label

Close the box, tape it securely, and write "FRAGILE" on both sides and the top of the box.

Shipping

  • Use next-day or overnight delivery. Your flowers need to spend as little time in transit as possible. Australia Post offers next-day delivery options between most capital cities and major regional centres.
  • Don't ship on a Saturday. Even if a post office is open, next-day services typically don't operate over the weekend.
  • Confirm a delivery day with me first. Before you send anything, get in touch so we can coordinate a day that works. I need to be here when the package arrives so it doesn't sit on a doorstep in the heat or cold.
  • Fill out the shipping form with your details and include it inside the box. Please put the shipping form in a plastic bag if there's any risk of it getting damp from the flowers.
